Born and raised in the east end of Pittsburgh-- Rell’s youth was spent studying as a classically trained singer grades 6-12 at both at Rogers CAPA, and Pittsburgh high school for the creative and performing arts. 

Rell's work is a response to daily life and happenings in international pop culture. Using paint and/or fiber as mediums to process, reflect, and respond to topics such as; Black/African American identity, beauty standards, and representation of Black people in global mass media.
